Corruption Begets Corruption

If Bernie Madoff was your child and he opened up to you about the fraud he was conducting, would you loan him more money so he wouldn’t fail?  What if it wasn’t a loan?  What if you had the means to simply give him the money he needed so he wouldn’t fail?  Would you do [...]

Inflation: The Ultimate Progressive Tax

Here in Minnesota we have a huge budget deficit problem.  And in bad times, just as in good, our DFL legislature is discussing tax increases.  Only this time they aren’t calling them “tax increases” or even “fees”  they are calling them “progressive revenue sources.”
Applying what I am seeing in Minnesota on a national level, I [...]

Why have one marriage ammendment when you can have three?

This week I wrote about Minnesota’s own marriage ammendment only to realize we don’t have only 1 bill in the house for this ammendment, we have 3!
H.F. 1871 (Drazkowski) Marriage between a man and a woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in Minnesota, and constitutional amendment proposed.
H.F.1870 (Dettmer) [...]

Minneapolis Jumps on Domestic Violence Bandwagon

Pretext: I don’t condone domestic violence.  Just as I don’t condone killing people with vehicles whether the driver is intoxicated or not.  I do however see the legislature attacking our rights by overreaching on feel-good legislation without considering individual liberties. Extending laws through widening interpretations is not a replacement for due process.
Last month the U.S. [...]

Bloomington Kennedy H.S. on Lockdown

I was actually driving past the school when I saw the squads approaching.  Swat was also called in although I didn’t see them.  This is part of the regular policy when un-authorized people gain access to the school.
Hello, this is Roderick Wade, assistant principal at Kennedy High School. We initiated a lockdown at 11:45 a.m. [...]

Letter to Senator John Doll Regarding SF1165 Gun Registration Bill

Senator Doll,
After reading through S.F. 1165 and noticing your name on the bill as a co-author, I am wondering why you would support such legislation.  To me these tactics have been tried in other states with no reduction in crime and only a large increase in costs to law-abiding gun owners.
I call out my specific [...]

Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association on HF953 Support

Yesterday I posted on Paymar’s misleading the public on support for HF953, the gun registration bill.   Only to later receive a copy of the actual letter sent to Citizens for Gun Grabbing.

Paymar Caught Misleading Public On HF953

Earlier this week I rebutted Rep. Paymar’s letter regarding HF953 “Gun Registration Bill”
In his letter he clearly states:
HF 953 DOES help law enforcement.  The Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association supports this bill as do individual law enforcement agencies.
The emphasis is mine but the words are Paymar’s.  Yesterday after looking into the claim that the MNCPA [...]

Rep. Paul Kohls Protecting 2A

A big thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding your concerns with and opposition to Rep. Paymar’s HF 953. As you know, this bill is an attempt to chip away at our 2nd Amendment Rights.
The committee hearing where this bill was to be considered was canceled, and I’m convinced it was because [...]

Antis Pushing More HF953 Miss-Information

I guess they aren’t willing to just let HF953 “The Gun Registration Bill” die.  Paymar started with an email yesterday and now today more have been coming.
—– Original Message —–
The gun control folk are blasting out this email from their constituencies. I’ve received over 20 in the last 90 minutes.

Colman’s Election Hopes Over?

The StarTribune is reporting today that of the 1,600 secrecy envelopes, only 89 ballots will be added to the recount.  Even if all 89 are cast for Coleman, this won’t be enough to make up the 225-vote lead which Franken has.

Ann Lenczewski Confirms Proposal Will Include New Taxes

Thanks to Andy from residualforces.com for bringing an Ann Lenczewski statement to our attention.  We have known all along that the DFL would plan on using the recession as a mechanism to promote their progressive tax ideas.  Now we have the statement confirming this.

All Minnesotan’s should hunker down.  With this kind of leadership, the recession [...]

DFL Inaction In Minnesota

Over at letfreedomringblog.com there are some excellent stats on the current Minnesota House and Senate’s apparent slow start.
From the stats:
Think about that. Fifteen committees didn’t hear a single bill in January, 2007. Another committee didn’t even hold an organizational meeting in January, 2007. Not surprisingly, that committee was the Ethics Committee.
With this kind of a [...]

SCOTUS Upholds 2005 Federal Law Shielding Gun Manufacturers

CNN.Money.com Reports
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- New York City on Monday failed before the U.S. Supreme Court to revive a lawsuit it filed against the gun industry.
New York sued several gun manufacturers in 2000, arguing the companies violated a state public nuisance law with their marketing and distribution of the firearms products they sell. Among the companies [...]
